This training focuses on developing a deep understanding of the “why” behind using different components of yoga practice. You will learn about the effects of movement, breath, meditation, ritual, and sound on the body/mind. Asana will include study of physical anatomy and kinesiology to better understand why we move in particular ways to create specific intentions and adapt movements to meet the needs of different practitioners. Pranayama will include the study of physiology and energetics to be applied in integrated practices. Meditation will include teachings from the yoga tradition as well as current research, study of the nervous system, and understanding of methods for mental focus. Philosophy study will include introduction of traditional yogic texts and integration of these ideas for modern life. You will learn to develop integrated practices to meet the unique needs of a range of individuals.

Upon completion of this training you will have the tools to design original yoga sequences, integrating multiple components of yoga to meet a designated intention. This training includes development and practice of teaching skills to strengthen your teaching voice. The deep level of study is also an invitation to self-awareness and transformation.
