One of my favorite treatments is NAET.  As a Naturopathic doctor, NAET is a gentle treatment that I use every day for children and adults alike.  I use it frequently in my practice because it works.

What is NAET?

Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique, also known as NAET®, is a natural allergy treatment to help alleviate allergies and sensitivities. Based on the ancient Chinese principals used for acupuncture and current theories of physics called interference, NAET uses acupressure to stimulate points on the body (called gatepoints).

Dr. Nambudripad has conducted studies using NAET® for not only allergy treatment but also for autism. These studies, as well as testimonials, can be found at www.NAET.com

Naturopathic View of Allergies & Sensitivities

In Naturopathic medicine, an allergy may be due to a physical imbalance such as digestive issues or a blockage or imbalance in the energetic body.  A food intolerance or sensitivity is an immune response to either immunoglobulin G (IgG) or immunoglobulin A (IgA).  Reactions to food could be delayed up to 48 hours after ingesting the food, which makes identifying the issue a challenge.

How it Works

A NAET treatment is 30 minutes.  While holding a sample of the substance that is causing reaction, gatepoints are stimulated on the hands, elbows, feet and ankles.  This allows the body to ‘get used to’ the substance that had previously been labeled as a threat.

Children or adults with multiple allergies or sensitivities may require only 5-6 (sometimes more) NAET treatments to see full and lasting results.

Avoidance

In most cases, just one treatment is needed to desensitize one allergen. This allergen is then avoided for a 24-hour period. This allows time for the allergen to clear the energetic pathways.  In the case of food sensitivities and allergies, most will clear after a single treatment.

Immediate Allergies

People with immediate allergies use a surrogate to hold the substance.  Individuals who are highly sensitive may sometimes require additional combination clearings.

Good Side Effects

There are good side effects that come with NAET because it lowers inflammation and histamine response.  For instance, insomnia and anxiety may be due to elevated histamines.  Histamines are an important neurotransmitter but when it is increased due to toxins or bug bites other neurotransmitters such as epinephrine may be affected causing anxiety or insomnia.

Side Effects of NAET include:
  • Less brain foggy
  • More focus
  • Better sleep
  • Better behavior in kids
