“How did you go from being a structural engineer to a naturopathic doctor?” This is a question I get asked many times throughout my week. If I could answer this in one short sentence it would be “It was the transition that brought me here.” In 2004 I went through what is termed by some as a healing crisis. I was 35 years old and was very sick. I couldn’t even ride my bicycle up the street without feeling like I was going to pass out. My medical doctor said there was nothing wrong with me. I decided that there had to be a reason for my illnesses. A friend of mine told me about a naturopathic doctor. In working with him I was able to regain my health. I was renewed not just physically but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Since then I have felt strongly about educating and helping others holistically. This holistic transition of health led me to pursue my doctorate and my yoga teacher certification. When I teach yoga I tell my students to bring their attention to the transitions of the poses. The transitions are just as important as the final pose and they get you to where you want to be. I look forward to sharing holistic information through this forum to support you in your transitions-whatever they may be.
