Reiki

Reiki (ray-key) is a technique that helps the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words – Rei which means “the Wisdom of God or the Higher Power” and Ki which means “life force energy.” Put together, Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy.”

The History of Reiki

Usui Shiki Ryoho is a Japanese Healing Art. This form was founded in Japan and the basis of the practice is referred to as self healing/self treatment. A little over 100 years ago a Japanese man, Mikao Usui, began a personal search that ended with his having contact with the energy Reiki. His practice grew and eventually Reiki was introduced out of Japan via Hawaii in 1937 by Hawayo Takata Sensei. It is passed on from one person to another through a specific initiation, teachings and a defined form of practice.

The combination of all the Elements and Aspects and their inter-relationships creates the system which has a proven, predictable capacity to take people along a profound path of healing, growth and spiritual deepening. If any part is changed or left out, the form is no longer recognized and is considered to be another form of Reiki practice.

Hawayo Takata (1900-1980), born in Hawaii, was the first to bring Reiki to the United States. She had been diagnosed with several illnesses and was about to have surgery when her doctor told her about Reiki. After 6 months of treatments in Japan, she was completely healed of her illnesses. She then learned Reiki and began training people when she moved back to the United States.

How Reiki Works

The Reiki system of healing is a technique for transmitting this subtle healing energy through the hands and into the body.  Reiki works by relieving the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress and promotes healing and health.

The reiki practitioner opens and cleanses blocked meridians and the chakra energy centers in the body, harmonizing and clearing energy levels. This promotes a smooth flow of reserve energy to the areas under attack, thus restoring balance, vitality, and promotes healing. It also leaves one feeling relaxed and at peace.  Practicing Reiki increases our reserves of energy, thus enhancing prevention of future outbreak of illness.

What is Reiki Used For?

1) Speed up healing

2) Help cleanse toxins in the body

3) Release blockages which balances the flow of subtle energy

4) Assist in contacting the “healer within”

5) Reduce physical pain or entirely relieve it

6) Help overcome emotional or mental issues

7) Help blood receive more oxygen

8) Help virtually every known illness, injury, and emotional challenge

9) Reduce stress–nearly 80% of diseases and illnesses are stemmed from stress.

10) Induce relaxation and a feeling of being recharged again, which can help to improve sleep patterns.

Reiki Sessions

A treatment feels like warm, gentle sunshine which flows through you, surrounds you and comforts you. During a treatment, the clients remain fully clothed.  Reiki treats the person’s body as a whole–including emotions, mind and spirit. Reiki is powerful, yet wonderfully gentle and nurturing.

As a Reiki practitioner  I work with the energy centers in the body, the chakras, to regain flow and balance while incorporating intuitive coaching. I use a “no touch” method as seen in the photo above.

I sense the areas that need the most healing and concentrate healing in those areas, and offer intuitive guidance and tools that match the needs of the sensitivities of each individual client’s temperament and current emotional needs as well.

Helping you achieve balance in body, mind, spirit, emotions, and lifestyle is the goal in my Reiki sessions for optimum health and vitality.
